As a Voluntary Aided Catholic School, Religious Education, Collective Worship and Liturgy form integral parts of school life at St Joseph's our faith permeates all aspects of school life. We believe that links between home, school and parish are vital to provide a broad and balanced education for all our children based on gospel values.

Prayer and worship are central to our life in school and the children regularly begin the school day with our school prayer.

Our Parish Priest Fr Evangelist regularly visits school. The children attend regular masses through the school year celebrating Harvest Festival, Advent, Epithany, Month of May and end of year celebration. Parents are more than welcome to join us. These Masses are prepared by the teachers and the pupils together and are based around festivals within the Liturgical year and also around our RE syllabus "Come and See". RE is a core subject at St Joseph's and is taught rigorously by all members of staff, with 10% of our teaching time being dedicated to RE.

Collective worship takes place daily, either as assemblies, themed on the liturgical year, in key stage groups, as prayers in class or as individuals. There is also a weekly prayer group at lunch time led by a member of staff. The teachers also gather together in prayer once a week.

Dear St Joseph,

This is our school.

Let peace dwell here.

Let the rooms be filled with happiness,

Let love be here,

Love of life itself and love of God.

Let us remember,

That as many hands build a house,

So many hearts build a school.
